Nahid took me to J Sheekey a few days ago for a delicious bit of post-birthday comfort food.
It’s amazing I made it there in one piece. For some reason I was the Klutz from Klutzville that day….I was running (as ever, I seem to spend my life running from one place to another) and managed to land with an “Oooof” RIGHT OUTSIDE the restaurant – like a proper flying fall finishing in a bellyflop!!! Nahid turned around to see what the mess was and it was ME! The maitre ‘d was all “are you alright?” whilst probably wondering if he should let me inside…I managed to behave impeccably all through my fish pie and frozen berries with hot white chocolate (above – YUM!) only to disgrace myself once again sending an ice bucket full of ice clattering and shooting across the floor on my exit! The age of sophistication has not yet been reached, evidently….

Nahid added these words on Dec 19 09 at 4:00 pmI’m doing this for christmas dessert:
SERVES 10-12INGREDIENTS
* 1.2kg frozen berries
FOR THE SAUCE
* 600g good white chocolate
* 600ml double creamMETHOD
To make the sauce, place the chocolate and the cream in a bowl over a pan of simmering water for 10 – 15 minutes, stirring every so often. It will melt and then thicken as the cream cooks.
Five minutes before serving, put the frozen berries on to individual plates – or one large plate – and then leave at room temperature to lose a little of their chill. Transfer the hot chocolate sauce to a serving jug and pour over the fruit on the big plate, or get your guests to pour however much they want on to their own plates.
